the history of pornography and sexual expression
Xyclopedia is an online resource for the study of the history of sexual expression. Founded in 2001, the site strives to present research and analysis in a context accessible to many types of readers. The history of sexual expression has been, for the most part, a secret history, until recently seldom studied and ofter misunderstood.
The genesis of this site was the inability to answer a question: Was there pornography in the 1960s, and if so, what was it like? We went to the Web and had a great deal of trouble finding serious writing about that and other, similar questions. What we created drew heavily on the work of writer Luke Ford, and we encourage you to explore his work, and that of the other researchers mentioned on this site.
